Monitoring of Fuzzy Quality Profiles via Fuzzy I-MR Control Chart

چکیده
In some statistical process control applications in the real world, quality of a process or a product is characterized by a relationship between two or more variables, which is referred to as profile. Understanding and checking the stability of process over time can be facilitated by monitoring the quality profile in phase I. Sometimes the quality characteristics may be linguistic, imprecise, vague, ambiguous or deficient that leads to the quality profile represented adequately by a fuzzy linear regression model. In this article, a new methodology in phase I is proposed for monitoring quality profiles in fuzzy environment. In the proposed method, a model in fuzzy linear regression is developed to build the quality profiles by means of multi-objective linear programming and then fuzzy individuals and moving-range (I-MR) control charts are developed to monitor the process fuzzy profiles with the aim of achieving an in-control process. Through a simulation study we investigated the performance of introduced approach on the basis of signal probability in various out-of-control scenarios. The results indicated a good performance of our monitoring approach in detecting medium and large shifts in process profiles. To show the applicability of our approach, a real case in tourism industry is studied and sensibility analysis of parameters in constructing a fuzzy profile is discussed.

Shewhart charts are the main tools for statistical process control. They are used for detecting assignable causes which affect quality of process output. From them, X and MR charts are two univariate control charts for monitoring mean and variation of measurable quality characteristics. The main drawbacks of these charts are: weakness of X chart against non-normal distribution of process data,...

In many processes in real practice at the start-up stages the process parameters are not known a priori and there are no initial samples or data for executing Phase I monitoring and estimating the process parameters. In addition, the practitioners are interested in using one control chart instead of two or more for monitoring location and variability of processes. In this paper, we consider a s...

A manufacturing process cannot be released to production until it has been proven to be stable. Also, we cannot begin to talk about process capability until we have demonstrated stability in our process. This means that the process variation is the result of random causes only and all assignable or special causes have been removed. In complicated manufacturing processes, such as drilling proces...

In some quality control applications, the quality of a process or a product is described by the relationship between a response variable and one or more explanatory variables, called a profile. Moreover, in most practical applications, the qualitative characteristic of a product/service is vague, uncertain and linguistic and cannot be precisely stated. The purpose of this paper is to propose a ...

Quality control plays an important role in increasing the product quality. Fuzzy control charts are more sensitive than Shewhart control chart. Hence, the correct use of fuzzy control chart leads to producing better-quality products. This area is complex because it involves a large scope of industries, and information is not well organized. In this research, we provide a literature review of th...
